Identification

Tiny (1-2mm) pear-shaped insects clustered on stems and leaf undersides. Honeydew (sticky residue) and sooty mold.

Damage & Symptoms

Curled, yellowed, or distorted leaves. Stunted growth. Sticky honeydew on leaves. Sooty mold. Virus transmission.

Organic Control

Strong water spray to dislodge. Insecticidal soap. Neem oil. Release ladybugs or lacewings. Companion plant with garlic, chives, or nasturtiums.

Chemical Control

Imidacloprid systemic. Pyrethroid sprays. Avoid broad-spectrum which kill beneficial predators.

Prevention
